Background Information
Kyon was just your average schoolboy living in Nishinomiya, Hyogo, although he’s a little bit more sarcastic and cynical than most. At one point in his life, he was interested in supernatural beings such as aliens and espers, but that fascination ebbed over time due to a variety of factors, like lack of evidence. He’s a reasonable guy, and tends to serve as a voice of reason or communication relay in certain situations. It’s quite difficult to get him angry enough to actually strike someone, seeing that he’s usually pretty calm. “Kyon” happens to be just his nickname, which originated from what his aunt mistakenly called him. Now, it is as good as his real name, much to his chagrin.
When he was 5, he ended up being roped into helping with numerous schemes as crazy as their perpetrator, Haruhi Suzumiya. He ended up moving away three years later and hasn’t seen her for around seven years. Kyon hardly remembers her now, only remembering things like her quirkiness.
The first time he found out about his power, he was sleeping in during summer vacation. When he woke up, he had already changed to a dog for what seemed like no reason whatsoever. Thankfully, he somehow managed to change back after a few hours, to the relief of his parents and disappointment of his sister.
Soon after, he received a letter from Meillure Academy, along with his sister (the reason why he’s still called Kyon even at Meillure). He thought it an unfunny practical joke, but his parents decided he should go after much deliberation. But he will not, unless under special circumstances, use his power.
Just for the record, this Kyon can speak both Japanese and English fluently.
